Sleep Issues: Co-sleeping, late nights, bedtime battles, multiple night wakings, early mornings, cat napping
What mum says: One of the most stressful parts of having a baby for me was by far, sleep. I think there is definitely lots of talk amongst moms about lack of sleep. But there’s not enough talk about teaching sleeping techniques in a gentle manner, which was so important to us.
Charli was a high-needs baby from the second she was born. She pretty much cried for 5 whole months. We did everything just to survive, and that meant developing a serious soother addiction, co-sleeping, feeding to sleep, and accepting we had a child that just didn’t like sleeping no matter how crazily over-tired she was. At 2 and a half, Charli was still using all those things to sleep and I was 6 months pregnant. I needed help.
Bianca and I are friends, and she never once interfered. She knew our history, and why we were in our current position, but she didn’t force any opinions or advice on us because she knew we weren’t ready.
I was 6 months pregnant with my second baby when I asked her for help, because I realised at 2 and a half, Charli wasn’t going to grow out of it any time soon. We developed a gentle plan together, and thankfully by the time our baby was born, Charli was sleeping in her own room, in her own bed, through the night.
I know for our second baby we will definitely be getting some help from Hush-A-Bee. And the best thing about it is you can learn all online from the comfort of your home.
Never underestimate the power of sleep.
